Container transport
The vehicle is loaded and lashed inside a shipping container. It travels protected, and you can load personal effects or goods around it.
In a container, the vehicle is loaded inside a standardised 20 or 40-foot steel box, chocked and lashed to the floor. The container is then closed and sealed.
From that point on, the vehicle undergoes no further direct handling: it's the container that is handled, exactly like any other unit of sea freight.
Loading the vehicle
Loading is the operation of getting the vehicle into the container. It requires precision: the vehicle must be positioned to the millimetre, its suspension unloaded, its wheels chocked and its body lashed with no contact point against the walls.
A 20-foot container generally holds one vehicle; a 40-foot one allows two to be loaded, or one vehicle accompanied by goods. Feasibility depends on the vehicle's exact dimensions.
Loading goods with the vehicle
This is the container's main advantage: the remaining space around the vehicle can hold personal effects, professional equipment, spare parts or goods.
Everything loaded must be declared and appear on the transport documents. Some products are prohibited or subject to conditions; we tell you what can travel.
